my laptop died. now i'm on a 12" substitute. hopefully they won't have to wipe the drive, but i've got all the important stuff (i think). hooray for Gilberto Gil for allowing others to sample/remix his work freely. hopefully other artists will follow.

"...nonunionized Wal-Mart, the largest employer in both the United States and Mexico, allegedly imposes financial burdens on local governments. A certain percentage of its workers must turn to subsidized medical care, free school lunches, housing subsidies and other taxpayer- supported welfare services, Miller said. A typical Wal-Mart store with 200 employees would cost taxpayers $420,750 per year, according to the report." SF Chronicle. Reminds me of the author of Fast Food Nation, who outlined several ways that McDonalds etc. were benefitting from government money.

stuff stuck in my head (good and bad): Themselves' "paging dr. moon or gun", The Books (track1 of the lemon is pink), and "Toxic". using radiaL for loops.. just an inbetween step from sound processing to mixing.

4 days since the latest mp3 comp was posted and it's created 6.5 gigabytes of bandwidth. yikes! the limit on the free server is 5gb, but so far they haven't pulled the plug. Ken's Last Ever.. seems to have his own propaganda machine that must be driving the stats up. that plus hopefully each month more people are coming back to the page.

Stefen Robinson gave me a short disc a couple of weeks ago. i'm finally giving it a serious listen and it is this amazingly tweaked glitchy stuff. so much more depth than most glitch. i'm also enjoying this sample disc that i got from Zod Records. i ordered some other stuff for the webshop and they sent this great sampler of tracks from 20+ releases.
