ok, so we played at borders (yes, the bookstore) on saturday. i was sure they would ask us to leave after a while, or at least turn down the volume.. but no, it was perhaps the best live event the B/N collective has yet to pull off. Stefen had it all organized into 12 minute segments (solos, duos, trios) and so it was constantly changing. the amazing thing is not one of the five performers sucked and even the collaborative stuff worked out. hooray for self-indulgent electrified improv!

Girl Talk is on fire.. reviews in XLR8R, Urb, a performance at WMC, a second order from our Japanese distributor, a vinyl version coming out in the UK, a thread on the Plane-Mu site, ....... not to mention that i can still put the new disc on and get a huge thrill.

my dissertation is about creating software as a form of expression.. but now that it's nearing completion i'm poking my head out and seeing all the software that has emerged over the last few years. damn!, commercial software is doing some interestig things. my new setup is now my own black boxes that i code as Cocoa apps, Live, Reason (although I haven't used it yet), Max/MSP custom patches, tons of plugins, and all of it connected via ReWire. then a few controllers w/ knobs and sliders + a wacom tablet. and i can always do the final editing in ProTools (or whatever we end up buying for the lab) and it doesn't hurt to keep Peak on hand.
