Jackhammers, background noise workers talking fades from one ear to the other, airplane flying above, ocean waves, air nailer, hammer, pulling nails, lumber falling, air nailer, hammer, generator, air nailer, city bus, birds singing, electric saw in the distance, lawnmower, birds singing, ocean waves?, lawnmower, birds and leaves on trees blowing, man talking in distance, electric saw, lawnmower, man yelling something in distance, lawnmower, traffic, metro train, birds, airplane, motorcycle, truck backing up, city bus, crowd of people, bulldozer, diesel engine of some type of machinery, engine turns techno, back and forth between ears (annoying) some music with static, kind of hurts my ears and I don't like it.  ¶ 9:21 AM

  i rarely watch SNL, but saw it the other night. it was not only a better show than i remember (must be all the political content.. such as the debate). the highlight, though, was Ashley Simpson got caught lip syncing. the 2nd song started and then all of sudden the vocals from the 1st song came in.. and band switched gears, but she was too embarassed and walked offstage.  ¶ 1:28 PM

  Valerie Lamontagne has been a guest artist here the last few weeks. her projects are amusing and her writings inisghtful. it makes me question net art, installation, conceptualism, performance, etc. does any of it really have any impact? is it all just mind games, but never having the ummph of more traditional modes of media/presentation??   ¶ 1:04 PM

  a student is researching John Maeda and it's peaking my interest in the Aesthetics and Computation Group at MIT. Design By Numbers, Processing, etc. i don't have the time to go that in depth into this, but there seems to be some interesting potentials emerging. these guys are geeks, though. i don't know if i could ever get that deep into it. i have enough problems dealing with my own software project.. that my dissertation committee still hasn't approved.   ¶ 4:49 PM

  i'm becoming a fan of mp3 blogs. so much music just freely posted. i'm not finding anything that is changing my life, but it's a decent distraction. blogs have essentially replaced lists as something to read when i have a spare moment.   ¶ 5:13 PM

  one of the great things about teaching is getting free books. desk copies, review copies, asking the library to purchase things. for the desk/review copies sometimes you have to prove that you're using it in a course. but the other day i got an email that essentially gave me a list of books and said pick! i chose the just barely published Contemporary Art: Art Since 1970 by Brandon Taylor. i'm excited to receive it.   ¶ 1:03 PM

  i have had a headache for 3-4 days now. i can't decide whether it is a cluster headache or a migraine or just chronic or some sort of sinus infection? sometimes i can barely think. this on the tail end of a cold that lasted a good week. here is some decent headache info: ! ! ! !  ¶ 9:02 AM

  we're stepping up our relationship with Soleilmoon for increased distribution (semi-exclusive for the entire catalog) in the u.s./North America. they distributed Unstoppable for us, and previously had picked up some stuff from Dutch East India (whose ship sank along with $ they owed us & i'm imagining a lot of cds in their warehouse were liquidated... at our expense, of course... others lost significanly more). so we finally have a dedicated distributor after a couple of years of floating.... and last night i did a lecture for a music business class (on copyright) and signed up a new intern for 'retail promotion.' we're all set for domestic domination.   ¶ 6:28 PM
